The Raving Poets magazine is published twice annually in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It’s an “e-publication”, existing online as well as in downloadable PDF format. It highlights and celebrates the artists that make the Raving Poets Canada’s premier purveyors of poetic awesomeness.
Eligibility
The Raving Poets stage two series of readings per year, in the spring and fall. Following each series, a new edition of The Raving Poets Magazine is produced. The magazine celebrates and salutes talent from each reading series. To be eligible for publication, you must have read with the Raving Poets at least once in the series that generates the magazine issue.
Submission call
At the end of each reading series, we do a submission call (via email and this website). Readers that have shared their words are invited to submit ONE poem for the magazine along with a brief bio. Preferably, this piece should be one that was performed sometime in the reading series. All submissions will be published – the magazine exists to celebrate all who have jammed, read, drank, and put up with us.
Submission Times
Submission calls are made in June and January of each year.
Submission format
Submissions must include the following items:
- One poem only in Word, PDF, RTF, or plain text format. This poem must be in “publishable” format – no post-submission rewrites will be honoured. However, the editors may request minor fixes for unintended errors, such as misspellings or grammatical oopses.
- A 100-word biography in Word, PDF, RTF, or plain text format.
