The Poetry Face-Off Finalists are ready for Flight!
April finds our poets ready to fly in the 8th Annual National CBC Radio Poetry Face Off with host Shauntay Grant. From January to March, 50 poets were commissioned by CBC Radio to write a brand new poem on the theme of ‘Flight’. At 10 events across the country, the audience voted for their favourite poem. Those winning works will be broadcast for the National Poetry Face-Off, airing in April on CBC Radio One.
There will be a ‘People’s Choice Award’ that will decide the ultimate ‘Poetry Face Off’ winner. The National Poetry Face Off will air on CBC Radio One beginning Monday, April 27th through to Thursday, April 30th (11:00 to 11:30 AM) and on Sirius Satellite 136 at 10 am ET, 7 pm PT and 4 pm ET, 1am PT daily . CBC host and poet Shauntay Grant will present all 10 finalists throughout these four shows. At the end of the four days listeners get to cast a vote for the ‘Peoples’ Choice Award’. Voting takes place on Thursday, April 30th between noon and midnight.
The winner will be announced Friday, May 1st on ‘Q’ with Jian Ghomeshi.
