Welcome to the new Raving Poets web site. Take off your shoes and stay a while. (Except for you, over there. Whew! Keep ‘em on.)

We have Mister Michael Gravel to thank for this revamp. He’s been slaving for days and weeks and months, mostly, I think, scrubbing all the cigarette smoke and Jack Daniels goop from the walls.

And give a look at the spiffy poster that Randall Edwards whipped up for us. Be assured, we did our best to recruit Patrick Pilarski for the photo, but he kind of fell short in the man-boob department. And Phil, well… he got hauled from the studio by the bad implant police. (Sorry, too much information.)

So where’s the poetry? Well, a long time ago I contacted the National Library of Canada to see if they’d be willing to archive our site for posterity. The short answer was, yes. But one of things they requested was some form of edition, or version – per year, per month, whatever. On the old site, we just had an ongoing free-for-all. One page per poet, sometimes updated, sometimes not.

We decided to start fresh with two ‘magazine’ editions, one for each of the series of readings, per year. And to boot, why not make it about the poets who take the time and effort to write new stuff and show up at the Kasbar to read it? I know it looks a little sparse right now, but eventually, you’ll be able to come back (or go to the National Library) and see a snapshot of your work, fixed in the amber of that reading series.

So welcome to the eighth year of the Raving Poets. Welcome to the spanky new web site. You may now commence clubbing your monitor with a champagne bottle.
