TO THE LOVELORN POETS
To the lovelorn poetsScrawling poems of romance to come
In ragged spiral-ringed notebooks
Looking for love in cracked concrete
Of sidewalks
In the faces of old couples
The laughter of children
To the lovelorn poets
Who try to make sense of the world
Without sentences
Without the finality
Of a period at the end of a phrase
To the lovelorn poets
Alone with a pen
Chiselling blank pages as Pygmalion
Chiseled stone
Your words are not in vain
Not silly love poems to be burned to ash
Hold fast to what may seem elusive
Unreachable and misunderstood
To what may seem a fool's ideal
Hold fast to it
Hold fast to love
