trees heavy with birds
under clouds heavy with rain

eyelids heavy, heavy
thump! a coconut
from its tree

(3)

prayers begin
birds fly from the minarets

(4)

lightning shows the palm trees
moving like windshield wipers

(5)

stubbed my toe on a seashell,
spilling yesterday's tide
