Gravity and Us

wanting to be raised above the masses
a tiny thing looking down
into the world that changed
yet somehow stayed the way
its always been

thus is humanity
demanding, evolving
and turning a blind eye
closing the third eye
so unwilling to see
just like I’m unwilling to see
my role, my own motivations
as I try to understand what moves You
too scared to see ourselves in this
much to aware
of what we may have done

there is too much to touch
yet hardly anything left in its purity
nothing is new
nothing is rare
there is no praise and
hope is fading
with the realization of what we are

only able to ride it out in silence
so unable to speak
of the glimpse that was caught
when we let ourselves
lay awake for a moment

had we seen something there
so disgusting and dark
that we simply closed our eyes
instead of reaching for the light?
sleep seemed to save us
allowed us to believe
there was nothing to wake up to.
