Life, That Is

Brutally tired
of being what you have been,
telling yourself that this is who you are
when it is really who you were,
you dream of new shoes
with sparkling red
licorice laces
and great
glowing
white new
SOUL

And they
take you
to a red
brick & rose-
coloured brand
spanking new
shopping mall
where the janitors mop up
old dreams, where each
new store offers behind
purple Formica counters
manned by kids with eager young zits
DAILY SPECIALS of this new
PRODUCT
you may be
next.

So
many
choices!

So
much
trepidation.

See, for years now,
you have told yourself
to stay the course but the course
is cracking now and you’re lacking
the motivation to travel it,
so the first thing you see
that allows you to be
something else
do-able,
do it.

Think about it:
your new face looks
exactly like someone
shitting or
getting off
the pot.

So what
are you
waiting for?
Go ahead,
get a new
one.

Life,
that is.
