Relinquishing Control
My garden grows wild.
Such is the price of neglect:
long, leggy,
unconstrained, unplanned, unabashed
growth;
sharp edges punching
through a smooth canopy.
Nestled among the wilting leaves,
laden heavy with fruit,
sagging under the weight
of forgotten harvests,
the grand design dissolves
back to the cool folds of
entropy.
Bright eyelets of green
wink from the leafy shade,
waiting for their master’s return–
tugging on the strings
of their wayward marionette.
