Summer's Gone
The summer's gone
but not forgotten
what you had to say
prevented me from talkin'
The roads are singing
with the thumping of schoolchildren's feet
and the bells are ringing
sounds of defeat
I've got an inkling
there's no more heat
oh, the summer's gone
but not forgotten
It will live with me forever
the endless possibilities carving their way into my mind
I simply can't get over
how you were so kind
Due to our different beliefs
our relationship didn't get too far
but you've given me wisdom
simply by being who you are
I could dwell in the past
maybe even stay there forever
but now I know
there's nothing left to endeavour
So instead I'll look to the future
and live in the now
I'm quite happy to say
I've had no trouble learning how
The summer's gone
but not forgotten
what you had to say
still has me talkin'
